ChatGPT (OpenAI)

ChatGPT is OpenAI’s AI assistant and the most widely used AI tool worldwide. Users phrase tasks in natural language; the system responds based on large language models. Since its launch in 2022, ChatGPT has evolved from a chatbot into a work platform with file analysis, image processing, and agent features.

Current models

The GPT-5 model family powers ChatGPT. GPT-5.5 Instant has been the default model since May 2026. GPT-5.4 Thinking and GPT-5.4 Pro handle complex tasks. Older generations such as GPT-4o have been retired. LLM inference runs on OpenAI infrastructure.

ChatGPT vs. ChatGPT Enterprise

Companies choose between two tiers. ChatGPT Business (from 25 US dollars per user/month) offers shared workspaces and an admin console. ChatGPT Enterprise adds SSO, audit logs, role-based access, and data residency. Neither plan uses company data for model training.

Strengths

ChatGPT stands out for its functional breadth, multimodality (text, image, voice), and a large ecosystem of integrations and custom GPTs. Its wide adoption lowers the barrier to entry for teams.

Data protection
